West Bengal BJP names teams to oversee Kolkata, Howrah civic polls

KOLKATA — The West Bengal unit of the BJP on Tuesday appointed two poll management teams for the upcoming municipal elections in the cities of Kolkata and Howrah.

Sukanta Majumdar, minister of state at the Centre, Anindya Banerjee (Raju), the party’s state vice-president, Tapas Roy, minister in the state government, and Kashipur-Belgachhia MLA Ritesh Tiwari have been assigned responsibilities for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections.

Majumdar and Banerjee have been appointed as in-charge and co-in-charge, respectively, while Roy and Tiwari have been designated as convener and co-convener.

For the Howrah Municipal Corporation, Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha has been named in-charge and Bally MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh as convener.
